PLB's vs SPOT/SEND devices

Hey Team,

Due to recent events I have questioned the emergency reliability of the SPOT devices and after communicating with the Rescue Team and reading what is available on the internet I have come to the following conclusion.

In an emergency (as in I need a helicopter now) a dedicated PLB is the only way to go.

Craigeburn Paragliding League 15 to 17 November 2013 Show Weekend

· Dates Nov 15 to 17

· Base 39 Torlesse Place Castle Hill

· Likely Launch Mt Cheeseman Ski Field.

· Departure from Base to Launch on first day 8:30AM

· Safety Briefing on the Hill.

· Bring filled in entry form.

· Bring your own GPS cables

· Have the Waypoints already downloaded onto your GPS – On the hill is too late. There may not be a PC there.

· Read the safety notes

· Decision to proceed with comp depending on weather forecast made 1900 Wednesday 13 October.

CHGPC AGM - 19 November 2013
