Castle Rock flyers should be aware of the new Airspace known as 'Heathcote' which is the area bounded by Sugarloaf - Cashmere High School - Southshore Peninsula - Godley Head - Summit Road to Sugarloaf. Heathcote is an extension to 'G977 Harbour' which has the same conditions. G977 Harbour includes Governors Bay, Allandale and Tai Tapu. See simplified airspace map on the club web site. These areas are from 3500ft to 9500ft and can be activated by phone 358 1611 or by radio to Christchurch Control on 120.9Mhz. You must phone/radio to deactivate the area after pilots have left.
Spring is almost here, now is a good time to check over you gear. I f you're a PG pilot here are a few things you could check: · Does your reserve deploy correctly. · When was it last repacked? · If you have penetration protection on you back-pro does it have the edges taped. · Do you have the strap adjustments sewn up. · If there is hard velcro inside your harness is it chafing. · What condition are your speed bar lines in?
