Speed wings Gondola flying

In line with NZHGPA ruling, please politely ask any speedwing pilots flying the gondola if they are PG2 rated. As a club site also check that they are CHGPC members.
The gondola is a very public site, if anything were to happen the Gondola will not be aware that speedfliers may be unqualified, flying uncertified wings etc and we would just lose another site....
I'm certainly loving having it open- Friday flys!!! Woop Woop

Flying at Lower Cass

Please note that flying at Lower Cass is suspended. Do not fly there until further notice.

Flying at the Gondola

The Gondola is once again open and a year pass is only $45 - an absolute bargain for accessing our flying site. I've flown the site a few times since the Gondola cablecar has started working again. The staff seem quite happy with us flying there BUT this site will be lost if:

1. No flying low over the cablecars - if you want to fly to The Rock biuld up some height at the Gondola and then set off for The Rock. Anyone flying too close to the cables will jeopardise this site.

Altitude is your friend (AKA: how not to do it)

Today I made a stuff-up, which could have ended very badly. Rather than try & forget about it I'm posting this so anyone else can see my mistake & hopefully learn from it:

Beware of the Port Hills Groper.

Female members should beware of the Port Hills Groper.
Check this out!

Taylors Mistake - Test Weather Station

Hi All,

Over the last few months I`ve built and tested a wind station.
The Wind station is now mounted near to the Taylors Mistake Launch.
The system runs on 900mhz GSM and sends out INSTANTANEOUS readings every 20minutes between 8am and 8pm.
I have an application running that automatically forwards the information to Twitter
You can access the data by getting yourself a Twitter account (I know alot of regular pilots have them already)
Once you have a Twitter account, you need to follow GoretekWeather

New Air Space operations in and above the Omarama

Hey Guys,

We've spoken to Captain Mark Sutherland for clarification on all this and it looks
like we'll have Mt Cook ATR's flying through the Omarama area where
HGs fly.

Fortunately most of the flights will be above our usual
altitudes and the flights are few.

Still these guys are operating on IFR and descending through the
levels we fly at so we need to do everything we can to avoid a midair.

Bill Degen has taken the conversations so if you have any further info or would like to ask any questions please direct these to him for now.
