Good Price For a First Glider

APCO Karma (DHV-1), 60-90kg

$900, however my new glider has arrived so reasonable offers considered

This glider has taken me many places; high over snow capped mountains in New Zealand, touched cloudbase in Australia, alone with the birds over the terraced fields of Nepal & soared the cliffs of India, yet still flies happily. This little glider's currently gracing the cover of the latest Airborn: http://issuu.com/nzhgpa/docs/airborn_aug_2014_lo_res_single_page.

PG Nationals in Wanaka - Registration open

Radios

Yesterday's incident where a pilot made an untimely and unplanned acquaintance with the rock face below the Gondola launch site, should be taken as a timely reminder about the importance of carrying and using a two way radio. The benefit of being able to talk to the seriously injured pilot and relaying instructions from emergency services to the pilot prior to being airlifted by the Westpac helicopter should not be underestimated. The radio does not have to be expensive but is equally as useful and important while flying to share information regarding flight conditions!

PG Nationals Accommodation in Wanaka

Sandy and I are thinking of going to the PG nationals in Jan/Feb 2015. We were thinking of getting a holiday home for the week. If anybody is thinking of the same and wants to share the costs, get in touch.

RASP 'Students'

A great response means we have reached the number we can accommodate at Peter's place, 7pm on Thursday 21st August.

The following people have confirmed: Mike Andre, Marco, Mike Lowe, Cliff, Luke, Simon C, and Jen C.

Peter's address details will follow before next Thursday for those of us that don't already have it. Please add your email address to the members list if it is not already included or email your details to me at cliff.swailes@cdhb.health.nz

HANG GLIDING COMPETITION COMMITTEE

Just after the recent AGM in Auckland, some of the HG delegates met to appoint the Hang Gliding Competition Committee for the coming season and discuss the state of the comp scene in NZ. Members that attended the meeting were Evan Lamberton (President), Ross Gray ( HG Operations Manger), Glenn Meadows (HG Training Manager), Grant Middendorf (PG Operations Manager) Hagen Brueggemann, Grant Tatham, Dennis Thorpe, Mark Alton, Dennis Green, Herman Ahrens, and Ian Miller.

What the heck is RASP?

If you check forecasts and try to plan your flights, have you ever tried to interpret NZ RASP to try and avoid a wasted trip to your favourite launch site?

Here's a link to NZ RASP. http://zakalwe.com/rasp/listForecasts.php?region=NZSOUTH_N

Peter Taylor has very kindly offered to host an 'evening class' at his home in Cracroft to share his knowledge, but numbers need to be limited so 'first come first served'.
