A message from our new CHGPC President

Meet new Club President, James Morris.

Kia ora koutou.

It is a pleasure to be able to introduce myself as your club President. I am a novice pilot having been flying paragliders and paramotors for just under two years. I hope this gives me a fresh perspective into the ways the club can continue to support its members.

In my professional life I have worked for 25 years in secondary education as a teacher and Principal. I now work as an employment advocate for secondary teachers.

It is no small thing to be able to fly as we do. As a new pilot I still find it remarkable. The benefits we enjoy in our sport come from the efforts of volunteers over many years. I want to continue this work to ensure we have access launches, landings and airspace that enable us to fly in a variety of ways and places. Positive and proactive relationships with other organisations and individuals is key and we have a responsibility as a club and as individual participants to support this.

We want everybody to return home healthy at the conclusion of each adventure and flight. The club locally and the association nationally have a focus on building a safety culture. The willingness of other members to share their expertise and experience has been invaluable to me as I continue to develop skills. I look forward to working with the committee to encourage participation by members in their club so they are able to access these benefits.

See you on the hill,

James
